This was my first ride on the Stanley Gap trail outside of Blue Ridge, GA. This trail became an instant favorite and was very reminiscent of everything that I consider home. The loop we rode has it all, single track climbing and descending, double track up and down, some pavement, gravel, a river, a lake, and the feeling of being quite "out there." We didn't even hit all the trails in the area, but we got in a solid 18 miles before the weather turned poor again.
The sights of late fall, a single trail full of leaves. Add a slight rain in the morning and you'll be very happy with a meaty front tire...
I'll just let you think I actually made it over this super slick rock...
Kevin pulling up the climb which was steep in places, but all quite rideable...
The Stanley Gap trail shares a section with the Benton Mckaye trail in this area.
My HiFi is hard to beat on rides like this, climbs great, rides comfortable, is quite flickable, and descends.??...well...just look at the video at the bottom...
A little bit of road to loop it around...
A sweet detour by the river and the awesome cabins in the area...
SMT has posted another SWEET video from the full pull of the Virginia Mountain Bike Trail. This one is a stellar specimen of what goes down when I get to roll with my "little" (cooler, better, funnier, awesome-r, and all around sick guy) brother Lucas.
